Yaroslav is an inspiring Bay Area athlete originally from Ukraine. In his normal life, Yaroslav is very busy, but rarely misses a workout, even if this means he starts his runs at 9 pm. This is a schedule he has kept for years while training for more than a dozen ultra-distance trail races. In 2024 Yaroslav has switched this up for a little something different.
In 2024 Yaroslav took a sabbatical from his demanding job and set about traveling the world with his family. For months they have traveled to a new country every week or two, and in every country they land in Yaroslav runs a marathon distance taking in as many sights as possible along the way.
In his brief stint back in the United States, Yaroslav ran Canyons 100k, securing a ticket for Western States as well as UTMB points.
2 weeks later, Yaroslav invited me to join him on an amazing adventure of running across the Grand Canyon and back, an awesome story that I would love to share in another post.
As if that is not enough adventure for one year, by the time you are reading this, Yaroslav will have begun walking the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile historic trek across Spain.
